IRS urges families, teens to make online safety a priority

IR-2019-175, October 22, 2019 – The IRS today urged families and teens to stay vigilant in protecting personal information while connected to the internet.

IRS provides additional day to file and pay for taxpayers through Wednesday, April 18

 IR-2018-100, April 17, 2018 — The Internal Revenue Service announced today that it is providing taxpayers an additional day to file and pay their taxes following system issues that surfaced early on the April 17 tax deadline.

 IR-2018-31, Feb. 20, 2018 — The IRS alerted taxpayers the day after Presidents Day marks the busiest day of the year for calls to the toll-free help line. 

IRS Announces 2018 Tax Filing Season Opens with April 17 Deadline; 155 Million Tax Returns Projected

 IR-2018-14, Jan. 29, 2018 — Marking the beginning of the nation’s tax season, the Internal Revenue Service said today that it successfully started accepting and processing 2017 federal individual income tax returns. More than 155 million returns are expected to be filed this year. 

IRS, States and Tax Industry Warn Employers to Beware of Form W-2 Scam

 IR-2018-8, Jan. 17, 2018 – The Internal Revenue Service, state tax agencies and the tax industry today urged all employers to educate their payroll personnel about a Form W-2 phishing scam that made victims of hundreds of organizations and thousands of employees last year. 

2018 Tax Filing Season Begins Jan. 29, Tax Returns Due April 17; Help Available for Taxpayers

 IR-2018-01, Jan. 04, 2018 ― The Internal Revenue Service announced today that the nation’s tax season will begin Monday, Jan. 29, 2018 and reminded taxpayers claiming certain tax credits that refunds won’t be available before late February.
